MY WORK ON YES WEBSITE

"It has been exactly 194 days since I have been in the U.S. as a YES student. I keep a count because these are the days that have transformed me into a better version of myself that I did not know existed.
I have found my exchange year to be the biggest challenge I have taken so far; it is something that pushes me out of my comfort zone, motivates me to build relationships....."

"Before my journey as an exchange student started, I knew how empowering the opportunity to present my home country and culture could be. However, International Education Week came along and taught me that this opportunity is so much more.
IEW was so hectic but I believe it gives so much power to students like myself to go out there and experience the incredible feeling of sharing cultures and....."

"They say home is where the heart is, but it is difficult to say the same when we talk about adjusting to a new country as a cultural ambassador! But I think that is what is so beautiful about host families.Â
I’ve been in the United States for a little over a month, living with a family who is so unique in every way. I never thought about how big of a part host families play in the exchange experience...."
Dear YES Class of 2019-2020,
I hope everyone reading this is safe and in the best of health.
I know we did not get to say goodbye as we expected we would; I know there was so much we were looking forward to in our exchange year, and it is overwhelming

t’s now more than a month since I’ve been back home in India after my exchange year, and almost exactly a year since I first arrived in the U.S. I can say it has been more than just an experience.
There is so much that I have learned in this past year, but two things that stick with me are advocacy and volunteerism. Before the lockdowns from COVID19, I was very keen to be returning home to get involved with advocating for so many social issues, one of which was working to remove the many stigmas around mental health issues.....

in colaboration of a project IÂ did with @ylacofficial to advocate about diversity with KL-YES alumna from pakistan talking about what changes intercultural learning brought in us.
“I was not born with a silver spoon in my mouth but my parents nevertheless strove day & night to give me the best. My father often said, ‘I strive only because I didn’t have enough and I don’t want my children to be deprived by any means.' He always advised me to stand out were most girls didn’t get an opportunity to step out.
My aspirations from life ......"
"We have closed the doors in yesterday and thrown the key away. Tomorrow holds no fear as we've seen today.  "

WHY I GOT STARTED
Before this exchange journey started, I was as curious and as clueless as any other student in my shoes would be. I never found enough information online or in person to tell me what I have signed up for. The community of exchange students all over the world is massive and still growing. And by this effort, I just want to put a medium out there which helps future students to interact and read through some of the raw real life experiences. I want it to be a helpful platform to those seeking inspiration, help, or advice. I finally decided to own my thoughts and be intentional about it. I founded My Exchange Life with a mission to give back to a community which makes me want to work harder with a purpose. And if this purposes helps anyone achieve even a little clarity, it will be a huge success in my heart.
